What your assistant can do
Places
One input, the permanent place it names.
Turns a postcode, a place name, an official code or a place ID into the place it names, says whether a postcode is live or retired, and hands back an ID that survives boundary changes.
Scores
A single number for an area, for the decision in hand.
A 0 to 100 score for moving, business, investing or research, with seven dimensions, each with its confidence and the reasoning behind it, and the sources.
Up to eight places on the same preset in one table, best first. A place that cannot be scored is reported in its row while the rest still return.
Signals
Every public signal for an area, in one shape.
Every signal for a place across crime, deprivation, property, schools, amenities, transport and environment, each with its value, percentile, confidence, source and period.
The same, narrowed to one category when that is all the question needs.
Intelligence
Ask in plain English, and check the answer.
A question in plain English becomes a typed query the database answers. The plan comes back with the rows, so the answer can be checked and run again.
The neighbourhoods most like a given one, ranked by how closely they match across the signals they share.
Monitor
Watch a list of places and catch the moves that matter.
Starts watching a named list of places in one step and returns the portfolio to read later.
What moved across the portfolio between two periods, with direction, size and cause: the source data moved, or a methodology release did.
Brief
One ready-to-read brief per area, shaped for the reader.
A brief for a lender, insurer, retailer or investor: the verdict, the dimensions that matter to that reader, the signals behind them, recommendations and sources.
Reference
Quick lookups that never touch your allowance.
How a scoring dimension is worked out: its source, how it is scored and its weight under each preset.
The engine version in production, its release date and the latest methodology releases. The same version is stamped on every answer.
How it connects
Add OneGoodArea as a connector, sign in with your OneGoodArea account and allow access. The twelve tools are in your next chat on every device you use Claude on. Available today as a custom connector; submitted to the Claude directory.
One command adds the hosted endpoint, then /mcp and Authenticate opens the same sign-in in your browser. The tools are available in the terminal from the next prompt.
A Claude plugin in our public repository carries the connector and four skills written from the methodology: area research for lenders, site comparison for retail, reading confidence and dates, and portfolio watch.
Cursor, VS Code and the rest reach the hosted endpoint with an API key in a header, or spawn the npm package locally. ChatGPT follows once the server is listed in the OpenAI apps directory.
Why you can trust what it says
An assistant will happily invent a number. This server never gives it the chance: every brief, score and signal is composed on our side from engine output, and the assistant passes it on.
Every figure names its publisher and the period it covers, with a confidence and the reason for it. The sentence the assistant repeats carries its own footing.
Thin evidence returns a caveat rather than a guess, a ten-sale floor sits under every price, and a missing value comes with its reason.
England and Wales on 2021 census areas, Scotland on 2022 data zones. Percentiles rank within each nation, never across borders, and Northern Ireland is not covered.
The methodology version is on every answer and the changelog lists what each release moved, so a figure never changes unannounced.
Who builds on it
An assistant that answers from the engine rather than from the model: a brief, a score or a comparison it can show with the sources, and nothing it had to make up.
Listings, lettings and site finders where the place drives the choice. The assistant in the product resolves the address, reads the neighbourhood and says what changed.
Analysts ask in Claude instead of writing the query. Rank, compare, find peers and watch a portfolio, with the plan behind every answer so it can be checked and run again.
Your own tools beside ours in one client. The structural picture of every neighbourhood, with source, period and confidence, next to the data only you hold.
What it costs
The free sandbox covers 500 calls a month and the sign-in creates a key in your account like any other. From there the ladder is the one on the pricing page.
01 · Sandbox
A developer key for your engineers to evaluate against, no card. Every product and the MCP server, not licensed for production.
02 · Pilot
The missing context, the integration and one measured outcome, with us alongside you. Licence terms are drafted by day 30, so the pilot ends in a decision.
03 · Licence
A platform licence covers showing OneGoodArea inside your product, in your own design, with attribution, from £2,000 a month. A data partnership adds redistribution rights for the feeds and exports your customers keep.
Frequently asked
No. Sign in from your client and allow access. Approving creates an API key named after the app in your account, visible on the API usage page, and revoking it disconnects the app. Clients that cannot sign in send a key in a header instead.
The server is free on every plan with API access. The sandbox gives 500 calls a month, with a ceiling of 100 a day and 100 plain-English questions, and the platform licences are on the pricing page.
It cannot. Every answer is composed on our side from engine output and stamped with the methodology version. The assistant can explain it, but it does not calculate anything.
England, Wales and Scotland, every neighbourhood. Northern Ireland is not covered, and a question about it says so rather than guessing.
Each publisher is loaded on its own calendar, from daily for police.uk to each new edition for the deprivation indices, and every value carries the period it covers.
Most tools answer in a few seconds. Plain-English questions run through a planner first and take longer, around half a minute, and the plan comes back with the rows.
No. We hold the places you ask about, the portfolios you choose to watch, your organisation and your keys. Everything returned is neighbourhood-level statistics. Training capture is off by default and a key can opt in.
Showing OneGoodArea data inside your product is covered by a platform licence, in your own design, with attribution, from £2,000 a month. Redistributing the data itself, in feeds or exports your customers keep, needs a data partnership. The free sandbox gives you 500 calls a month to evaluate, no card. Both are described on /pricing.
Sign up, connect from Claude or Claude Code, and ask about any neighbourhood in England, Wales or Scotland. The first answer carries its sources.
